Hey Everyone, I wanted to mix things up a little by doing the rankings this week based on who is HOT and who is NOT. Overall, i will be looking a the last 6 weeks record and point total to see who is performing the best lately. As well as who is making a push to get a chance at the playoffs (for some franchises the first time). The Power Rankings is an average of the record and points for the past 6 weeks. Week 10 Recap
Big City Hillbillies (7-3) 126 @ 90* Putters (7-3) 103 Honestly, BCH pulled out a big win this week to tie him for the lead a put him in the best spot to earn a bye week for when he makes that playoffs and yes after his win this week, he has basically ensured himself a spot in the 2015 playoffs. And the one and only Kirk Cousins put him on top!!. Outside of this, the teams were fairly matched with BCH having a slight edge. The real kicker though is BCH's bench which had 2 WR (Martavis Bryant and Floyd) putting over 20 pts. Which neither team had 20+ besides Captain Kirk noted above. 90* Putters is putting up average numbers but his streak of forcing team’s to their worst week seems to be over for now. However, he has put himself in a decent position by basics ensuring him a playoff spot with a ending record no worse than 7-6. This should be more than enough to make the playoffs this year. However, with his top WR out almost indefinitely, he’ll need Cobb to start producing again if he wants one of those playoff bye spots. On the other hand BCH is the hottest team over the past 6 weeks. Hopefully, (for him) his team keeps this hot streak up locking him a playoff bye spot. River Gypsies (7-3) 110 @ Troll Hunters (6-4) 101 Overall RGs made a pretty solid trade for his old reliable Freeman (who was on bye) and giving up the hot DeAngelo and Yeldon. These two guys had two poor weeks this week and would’ve been a liability that could’ve cost him the week if he would’ve started either one of these two. Also both teams had decent performances except for THs starting Willie Snead. Honestly, he has been pretty hot so he was suppose to be good for a few points. It’s easy to look back and say start Matt Jones but he only got extra touches after Morris’ rib injury. So overall RGs won this match fairly outright but didn’t have any room for error on his bench this week. And not to mention the quality pick up of P Manning for the upcoming Breezy bye week… I’m glad he was pulled last week as compared to this week since TH can’t avoid that disaster this week against IOs. With playoffs on the line, each week can make your season or wreck your year when you are still on the playoff bubble. However, with IOs at 5-5, it’s almost a bigger deal to earn the W next week after his loss to 302 Cadets. However, more on that later. 302 Cadets (4-6) 122 @ Indian Outlaws (5-5) 93 Overall, IOs lost because the “Red Rocket” turned out to be the “Red Ryder BB Gun” (per JJ Watt) and Antonio Brown coming up big with the return of Big Ben. 9 points from Andy isn’t expected and not wanted especially after a similar performance in week 8. Odell B had a good game which was countered by a strong performance by the “Home Town DST” or at least D Rocks home town Steelers at least. Other than that, no RB produced over 15 points. Outstide of the two WRs noted above, their production was fairly limited as well. Not to say other teams faired any worse, but overall it was only a average performance with 302 having a better QB, WR1, and DST day. 302 is still in the playoff hunt if he can pull off another 3 wins and maybe only 2 wins if he has the tiebreak (pending the other 6-7 teams). IOs is also on bubble and needs at least 1 and a needed 2 more wins to lock in his playoff birth. With the title on the line, it would be embarrassing for IOs to miss the playoffs. Not to say he won’t make it but with a 5-5 record and sitting at number 5 out of 6 who make it. And lastly, with 3 other teams at 4-6 fighting for the 5th and 6th (even 4th spot). Things can still get interesting if THs and IOs don’t win at least 2 of their next 3 games (and they battle each other next week). The Mullynation (4-6) 101 @ Northside Angels (4-6) 130 Honestly, this could’ve been NSA’s biggest win of the year getting him in a chance to make a push for the playoffs and also ensuring he has the tie-break against Mullynation (assuming that is head-head) if both are tied for a playoff birth. For Mullynation, having Gore on a bye puts Mullynation in a tough spot this week when win could knock a team contending for a playoff spot/putting herself one win closer. Antonio Andrews did not help her cause and odd that it is but starting two Philly RBs might have been her best play. Carolina is a tough matchup for any RB and the shaky Tennessee Offense is not a RB you want to start against Carolina. She could’ve also had come love from her TE Reed but Eifert is just too hot to bench. Either way she would’ve lost with NSA finally seeing AP produce. AP’s 80 yd TD at the end didn’t help Mully's cause but it would’ve been much more heartbreaking if she would’ve lost by only 16 or less. Overall, both teams need needs to win at least 2 if not all 3 of their next games to make the playoffs. Both teams are on the watch list to earn the last spot or two to keep their championship dreams alive. Smell My Finger (2-8) 96 @ Twin City Tree Cats 4-6 (114) Overall, Tree Cats had a few players out played SMF with the key spots being LB and DST (oh yes that’s the defense again if you didn’t guess it). SMF LB put up a solid goose egg because this Carolina LB (Thomas Davis… who?) is no Luke Kuechly. Also the DST for the Broncos was thrashed with a -2 after Manning was benched after how many interceptions? Too many to count that’s for sure. However, Both QBs were at 21, both RB1 were around 3 pts (2 to 3.4), both RB2 were around 29 (28-30) and so on. Smell my finger is in a rough spot as he is 2 wins outside of 9th place with only 3 games lefts… It’s rough not getting to choice your name for the current year but for two year in a row. That is not a good start to this franchise and we’ll see if he can get a hot streak to end this regular season. TC2 on the other hand is actually in playoff contention at 4-6 and could lock in a spot with 3 more wins. Possibly only 2 if the cards are in his favor. We’ll see if his streak can continue and earn him the final playoff spot.

Editors note: I don't know if ESPN should be making edits half a week after the games have ended. However, they shouldn't have gotten it wrong in the first place. That's why we use ESPN as compared to yahoo or other FF sites. Anyway - Gentry moved back into the top 5 last week with his win. Sorry Mullynation but the Belt gives you a +1 in rankings. Its just the rules. Congrats on your win RG, you earned it!!
Anyways enough about last week lets get started on Week 8!! River Gypsies 120 (5-3) @ Northside Angels 78 (3-5) I've been confident in NSA the past few weeks because I feel like you're a decent team and are putting up a fair amount of points. However, this was not one of your weeks and it all started with picking the Packers DST who took 8 points off your team as compared to the 12 points the dominating Carolina D/ST team. The Packers continued to pull you down with only 4.2 points from A Rods which is not something you hope on seeing. RGs capitalized on this with Matt Ryan putting up above league average 18 points. And NSA didn't capitalized on a weak performance from NSA RB core with a IR Bell (just the start of the injuries that plagued week 8. RGs had 4 15+ points players while NSA only had 1. And that 1 was his dominating LB Kuechley. Outside of that for NSA it was a lack luster week for his top players. The one silver lining is that Hillman once again had double digit points which could be he might be worth starting in week 9. That being said CJ Anderson also got a TD and 100+ yards which could hurt his touches even though he has the starting spot at this time. As noted RGs had the better team with a few star performances from Tucker and AJ Greens best game of the year. Honestly, losing Le'Veon really isn't a really issue for RGs. DeAngelo played well when Bell was suspended and had a decent half a game after Bell had his injury. DeAngelo will be similar to Bell as he did the first few games so this really isn't too much of a loss at all for this squad. Overall, I still RGs has a decent team and he deserves to move up a spot or two on the rankings this week. On the other hand, a few losses the past few weeks for NSA has brought his top 4 streak to an end. It was a good run NSA but you will have to show me a few solid wins and a win streak to regain your spot. Top 3-4 points isn't enough to earn you a top spot on the rankings. It's about performance and winning when it counts. And going forward, any win or lose could secure or knock you out of the playoffs. Troll Hunters 132 (5-3) @ Smell My Finger 115 (1-7) Let's talk about the craziest match up of the week with THs winning a "close" one and the only reason why it wasn't close is because Breezy had a recording tying night with 7 TDs or more importantly 44 fantasy points. Even within a record 24 points wouldn't have earned THs the win. Overall Breezy, Gurley, and Snead (with help from Breeze) provided 60%+ points. We'll get to the impact of the 18 pt chiefs output later on in this recap. First SMF, Cam didn't have a bad night with 19 points and with West, Crabtree, and Broncos putting up 15+ points as well.. SMF could've had a little bench help with Vereen but only 6-8 points max over Steve Smith (or Evans but Evans is a fairly obvious start each week. And the Patriots D/ST had a solid week but nothing really any better than the Broncos (22 vs. 23) So the only real impact is whether CJ Anderson was started after his first bench of the year. We'll see if this is for real or just a lucky week going forward. This could've helped but wasn't needed with Breezy 44 points. Now I don't know if anyone noticed but THs did pick up NYG (who played against Breeze) originally on waivers.. Why you might ask, because Breeze has been shaky and the Giants are against a shaking QB. Now i did wise up a upgrade to the chiefs who put up 18 points. If I did keep the NYG DST in my line-up like i had, I would've had a fairly humiliating loss. So THs dodge a bullet with his DST pick and almost made a move that could've ruined his entire season. That being said, Breeze could be finally back and Gurley is now a "undroppable" according to ESPN (sorry guys and gals if you thought I might drop him). With McCoy off his bye week, he could continue his win streak to 5 against the league leader 90* putters. SMF had a tough loss of Steve Smith Sr. who was the 2nd guy who ended his season this week. However, Sammy Wats could be back this week which would be a relief as he tries to stop the bleeding of his 7 game losing streak. You can do it SMF, you can do it!! 90* Putters 106 (7-1) @ 302 Cadets 90 (2-6) Overall this was another Brady Edelman show with them once again putting up almost 50% of 90* pts. this week. Other than that there was nothing really special with just a sup par week from Cobb and i guess Gates at this point. 90* could've had help from the but this was only a few points and the best chance was Maclin swapped for Cobb which was the smarter pick with Cobb in Denver and Maclin against the struggling Detroit. 302 Cadet's is have a tough time with his main QB bortles being on a bye this week. When you start a QB against oakland you are sure to get 15 points right? i guess that's a no when you get hurt and only put up 3 points. This was the real killer for 302 cadets this week with possibly some help expected in the flex position from Darren McFadden or Latavius Murray. Nothing enough though to change the tide of the match... Also 90* isn't getting as much love as he did in the earlier half of the season with his DPs with him only getting 4 points while 302s had a solid 14 or 10 pts more from these 3 spots. As such, this game was decently close but nothing really would've changed the result of another team having a tough time against 90* Putters. Indian Outlaws 130 (5-3) @ Big City Hillbillies 115 (6-2) The winner of this match is IOs leader and most consistent player Odell B jr. putting up 31 points giving IOs a 15 pt spread over BCH. Both team had a few rough positions this week IOs with Dalton and Ivory and BCH with Forte and Allen. (both of which ended the game injured and Allen being out for the season).Honestly, this was really only BCH's weakest positions and the reason they were low is because they both left the game before it ended. BCH had a few points he could've gained from the bench but nothing to help this 15 point deficit. IOs could've made a grieve mistake with starting NYJ DST but with the STL lookin pretty good, it would've been a bad call to make (almost as bad as starting the the giants noted above). IOs did have Cooks on the bench who point up 20 pts. with help from Breeze. That could've only added gas to the fire which was not necessary at this point. I mean he would've had to take Lacy out of the mix as a flex spot which is tough when you believe Lacy might finally have a good week. Unsure though if that will happen before the year is done. For BCH, Rivers, Hopkins, Olsen, and Stewart had good or pretty good games... just not great games like Odell B which earned IOs the win. IOs needs more work out of his RBs if he wants to continue producing 130+ points because Odell B won't put but 30 points a week (similar to Brees) and as such, he needs a few of his other stars to push secure his playoff spot or even a chance for a bye. BCH needs to secure a bye to make sure he has plenty of time to get Forte ready for the playoffs since his players a disappear almost as fast as they are reappearing (ie. Dez and Big Ben). The Mullynation 114 (4-4) @ Twin City Tree Cats 137 (2-6) TC2s puts up the highest points of the week and tries to redeem himself after a tough season so far. Like our Commission noted in his first video post, TC2s season is about over with 5 games left and at best could be 7-6 with a 5 game win streak. This is a lofty goal with 5 teams above 5-3 who only need 2 more wins to match this record. But TC2 isn’t giving up and is here to ruin anyone else’s chance of a playoff spot or a chance at a bye. I think TC2 is going to mess up someone season before the end of the year is done. And his first target was Mullynation. With help from his relatively new additions Palmer and Thomas. He put up a solid 137 to rock Mully's world. With help from B Watson (another NO WR) and Houston D/ST. Locked in TC2's win this week. Even with horrible weeks from Woodhead, jones, and moncreif (each with less than 5 points and combined less than 10). He somehow pulled together the top points of the week. Mullynation did have a tough bye week with Murray and Robinson on byes which means she had to start A Andrews (who?) and Decker. Who Decker and Andrews really didn’t have bad weeks for these bench players covering up her bye weeks. She also had quality performances from Julio and Diggs (Diggs being a boss!! As we all love). Both DPs were consistent and not much gained from each besides TC2 having Houston. Overall, Palmer outplayed Luck which was the 20pts spread that TC2 needed for the win. Huge upset this week and I would assume TC2 has more in store to offer. Lastly, Mullynation faces the top team this week and adds another tough lose to her 500 record. Week 8 Power Rankings: 1. Big City Hillbillies 6-2 (-) Lost Allen for the year and Forte (for maybe the year) but got Dez back and gained Murray sacrificing one of his top TE. Definitely making the right moves to stay number even after his loss 2. 90* Putters 7-1 (-) Best record, and the only reason why he has a lower points for score the past few weeks is a low output of DPs (which really isn’t a real input factor in my book) Still the solid number 2 (even with the 3rd lowest points) Note: This is a challenge RGs and IOs. Be number 1 and number 2 in points this week!! Earn your survival matchup and don’t make this final survival match a boring one. 3. Indian Outlaws 5-3 (-) Big win against BCH but only because of Odell B putting up 30+ points. Almost no RB help. Need that to move up any higher. 4. River Gypsies 3-4 (+1) or (+2) from original post Holds the belt and lost Bell. DeAngelo will cover well for Bell and still has solid WR with Sanders and Green. 5. The Mullynation 4-4 (+1) Moves up only because NSA moved down, still Murray and Robinson were on bye (which didn’t help her loss) but she has to win if she wants to keep this spot for another week. 6. Trooooooool Hunters 5-3 (+1) Keep winning and keep moving up (with Breezy and Gurley leading the way) 7. Northside Angels 3-5 (-3) Currently a 3 game losing streak… nuff said 8. 302 Cadets 2-6 (-) 2nd lowest points this week and giving the 3rd lowest (90* putters) the win. Still you can turn it around 302, everyone knows you can do it!! 9. Twin City Tree Cats 2-6 (+1) Top points of the week earns you +1 on rankings any day of the week. Great performance from Palmer, D. Thomas (acquired via trade) which earned him the win. Keep this up and you can keep moving up!! 10. Smell My Finger 1-6 (-1) Still put up the 5th most points… but similar to Mullynation is just wasn’t SMF week. Hopefully the S^3 (Smith Sr.) doesn’t hurt this battered team too much and Sammy Wats can come back and turn this record around (at least a little) Predictions: (2-3 last week so I must not be that lucky) – Home Field Advantage!! 90* Putter (7-1, +973/-785) @ Trooooooll Hunters (5-3, +849/-852) (upset – I know his gimmicks which help him win #Twinning) Smell My Finger (1-7, +844/-978) @ The Mullynation (4-4, +951/-1030) (1st 1K pts against…) Twin City Tree Cats (2-6,+785/-963) @ Big City Hillbillies (6-2, +1045/-932) Northside Angels (3-5, +988/-923) @ 302 Cadets (2-6, +786/-891) River Gypsies (5-3, +1023/-936) @ Indian Outlaws (5-3, +930/-887) RGs @ IOs - Title fight and Survival Finals (make it a good one guys!!) |
