The 2013 marked the expansion of The Red Zone to a ten-team league. Dan Rosenthal and Alex Spence were invited to join and given franchises, creating Twin City Tree Cats and Vicious Veg-Heads. The Tree Cats did quite well in their first year, securing the #1 seed with a 9-4 record. The playoffs were also expanded to six teams to accomodate the larger league size. River Gypsies was the #2 seed, 302 Cadets #3, Big City Hillbillies #4, Northside Angels #5, and Indian Outlaws snuck in as the #6 seed. Vicious Veg-Heads was left on the outside looking in, even with a 7-6 regular season record.
With Twin City Tree Cats and River Gypsies on bye, 302 Cadets and Indian Outlaws faced off while Big City Hillbillies and Northside Angels did battle. #6 upset #3, but #4 handled #5. River Gypsies faced Indian Outlaws next, and lost to a 155 point explosion. The #1 seed, Twin City Tree Cats, barely squeaked by Big City Hillbillies, winning 102-100. In the championship, the #6 seed upset #1 by 24 points, meaning the Indian Outlaws successfully defended their title.
