The 2015 season began with the transitioning of the league blog to the Hanson brothers, as League Commish Andrew Wheeler started medical school. The Hanson brothers did a phenomenal job carrying the mantle, and once again everyone looked forward to the weekly smack-talk.
The 90 Degree Putters rushed out to a 6-0 start and seemed like a lock to break The Mullynation's record of 10 wins in a season. After a controversial loss to the River Gypsies (the win was retroactively taken away from the Putters due to a score change), they began to spiral. Meanwhile, the Big City Hillbillies and the River Gypsies were both trying to catch up to the Putters' blistering start.
The 2015 season really highlighted the flaws with the existing resetting waiver system. There was a noticeable surge midway through the season where the bottom-dwelling teams started gaining significant steam thanks to loading up on waiver talent. Also, the addition of two more IDP starters (for a total of three) meant that scoring was increased all around. This made scores much more unpredictable and seemingly random.
In the end, the Putters were unable to reach that rarified air of 11 wins, though they did tie The Mullynation's mark of 10 wins. They earned the #1 seed, Big City Hillbillies at #2, with River Gypsies, The Mullynation, Indian Outlaws, and Troll Hunters following at #3, #4, #5, and #6, respectively. The River Gypsies chose to face The Mullynation in the first round, likely due to a rash of Mullynation RB injuries. The strategy worked (122.7-102.6), and the River Gypsies advanced. The Indian Outlaws defeated the Troll Hunters 140.1-108.5. Next, the 90 Degree Putters curiously chose to face the red-hot Big City Hillbillies (who had scored 176.1 points in their last game), and that proved to be a mistake. The Hillbillies advanced to their first title game, while the Gypsies dispatched the Outlaws in the playoffs for the first time ever, earning just a slight 5.5 point victory. The Indian Outlaws would not win their fourth Schadenfreude in a row. In the championship, the Hillbillies unexpectedly came up short with just 100 points, and the River Gypsies secured their second Schadenfreude.
