Playoff Seasons: Four - 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 Notable Records: The Big City Hillbillies, like The Mullynation (2014) and the Twin City Tree Cats (2013) is an example of a favored team coming up just short in the championship. In 2015, the Big City Hillbillies were heavily favored over the River Gypsies. In the two games prior to the championship, the Hillbillies had earned two staggering victories, scoring 176.1 points and 160.1 points. Yet, in the championship they scored just 100, falling to the Gypsies' 132.3 points. The Hillbillies hold an all-time record with the second most points-scored-per-game, a mark of 127.4 points in the 2015 season. In fact, only nine teams have ever scored 120+ per game in a season, yet the Hillbillies have managed it twice: #2 at 127.4 (2015), and #9 at 120.0 (2011). The Hillbillies are the only team other than the River Gypsies to ever post a season with fewer than 90 points-against-per-game. In 2013, the Big City Hillbillies' opponents scored just 88.1 points-per-game. This mark is #2 all-time, behind the River Gypsies' 86.5 in the same season, and just ahead of the River Gypsies' 89.6 in the 2012 season. On the flip side, the 2016 Hillbillies had a great deal of points scored against them. Their mark of 123.4 points-per-game-against is second all time to IO's 2011 season (124.8). |
