The 2014 season was the first year that The Red Zone had a weekly blog, which was written and managed by League Commissioner, Andrew Wheeler. Weekly Power Rankings, critiques, and predictions were included. This increased the competitiveness and smack-talking from pretty much everyone.
The Mullynation transitioned from a perennial disappointment to offensive juggernaut as they raced to a league-best 10-3 record. This was the first time a team ever won ten games in the regular season. They also set an overall scoring record along the way, and were the heavy favorites to win The Schadenfreude. Indian Outlaws and River Gypsies constantly vied for the #2 spot all season long, but River Gypsies was able to snatch it for good in Week 13. Indian Outlaws settled for the #3 seed, 302 Cadets earned #4, 90 Degree Putters #5, and Twin City Tree Cats #6.
A new rule allowed the top-seeded active team to choose their playoff opponent, so the #3 seed, Indian Outlaws, chose #6, Twin City Tree Cats. This worked out fine, with #3 beating #6. The 302 Cadets laid an egg with only 65.6 points, losing to 90 Degree Putters' also-disappointing 79.1 points. In the second round, #1 seed Mullynation chose 90 Degree Putters as their opponent. This was a great choice, as any other team would have sent The Mullynation home. #1 took down #5, and #3, Indian Outlaws, upset #2, River Gypsies. This was now the third year in a row Indian Outlaws sent River Gypsies home in the playoffs. In the championship, the powerhouse all year long came up short, losing to the #3 seed by a shocking 54 points. The Indian Outlaws had won three consecutive Schadenfreudes.
