Playoff Seasons: Three - 2012, 2013, 2016 Notable Records: The Northside Angels had a change in ownership mid-way through the 2014 season. After seven weeks of the season, Steve Kanne stepped down and the franchise was awarded to Mike Tibstra. The roster was in shambles at that point. In the last six weeks of that season, the team averaged just 78.1 points per game. This was over eight points less than the all-time record for fewest points per game over a season (86.9). Nonetheless, when the Northside Angels faced off with the Vicious Veg-Heads in Week 13, both trying to avoid being the last-place regular-season team, the Northside Angels were able to secure a dramatic 1.2 point victory. In 2015, one of the most unlikely events happened, courtesy of the Northside Angels. In Week 3, The Mullynation scored 119.4 points, a fine total, yet they lost... ...by nearly sixty points. The Northside Angels broke the long-standing record held by the 302 Cadets, earning the highest total any team has ever scored. They ended up with 179.1 points at the conclusion of the week. Though almost incredibly, this record held for just one year (IO, Week 5 2016, 183.9 points). This offensive explosion was obviously unsustainable, and later in that same season, the circumstances were flipped. The Vicious Veg-Heads scored 172.6 points against the Northside Angels, with a margin of victory of an eye-popping 88.9 points. Astonishingly, this pales compared to the record (and embarrassing) 98 point beatdown the Indian Outlaws suffered in Week 9 of 2011. The Angels of 2013 were one of three teams in history to average fewer than 90 points-scored-per-game. This translated to a points-scored-per-player of just 8.93 points, one of only six teams to ever break that mark. |
